Get rid of that heavy flywheel on your gas engine conversion! Typically, you can save at least a pound of weight off your engine by converting to an electronic ignition system and losing your heavy flywheel. Most of the weight you get rid of by switching to this ignition is rotating weight also! Your engine will hand start easier, spool up much faster, and go on a diet at the same time! It will likely have a longer, happier, life as well due to lower loads on the crankshaft bearings.
All our ignition systems come with new NGK spark plugs and our flush mount switch with charging jack, magnet and hall sensor.

We have never had a customer that was not able to use one of our ignitions for their application! We even have the ME-8 (Rimfire type), ¼-32 threaded spark plugs and ignition systems – please call and ask about them.

When asking for spark plugs that you do not see listed, please give the spark plug number and/or dimensions of the plug or thread.
Our ignition system includes everything you need to install into your gas engine conversion including the correct magnet for the hall-effect sensor and new spark plug. You provide your favorite switch and 4.8 battery and a hub for the special magnet that is included.
These ignitions are reliable, efficient, fit almost any size gas engine, and are a favority among gas fliers today. Fly for hours with a simple and inexpensive 4.8v pack.
For all you "weight weenies" out there, yes, you can use a AAA, 900 mah, 4.8v pack! Use this as a replacement for your malfunctioning stock ignition or for your new gas engine conversion!
We fly gas, are very familiar with gas engine installations and can help with your questions...we're not just someone selling these parts with little or no knowledge of how to actually use them.
Please note: you will need to perform some custom fabrication of brackets and a magnet holder (hub) will need to be made for your specific engine. Some engines are more difficult than others to mount the brackets to. Do not use your magneto flywheel with this system as the heavy magnet can damage the hall-effect sensor. If you are replacing an ignition system and you have only one magnet on your flywheel and your hall sensor is working, usually you can just rewire the hall sensor to our ignition. This will save some time making brackets to hold the hall sensor. If you have two magnets, one will have to be removed and the hub will have to be balanced. Then arrange the system to fire at your desired ignition timing. As always, please call or email with any questions!
Here are the specs of the ignition system:
- 0-13,000 rpm capable

- Auto advancing/retarding for easy flip starts (standard magneto ignitions generally require the prop to usually be flipped very fast, making hand starting difficult or impossible)
- Very low battery drain (we usually get at least 2.5 hours flying time on a 1650 mah, 4.8 V battery)

- During low battery condition, ignition will not just shut off totally...it will cut out intermittently at higher rpms, this warns you and gives you plenty of time to land - so you don't crash your plane

Our CDI (Capacitive Discharge Ignition) package comes with the following:
- Industry leading quality (matching) Japanese Denso or NGK Spark Plug
- High quality, nickel plated magnet is .125" diameter x .125" long
- Complete Hall Effect sensor assembly as well as two different sensor mounts for universal mounting
- CDI Unit
- Protective wire covering for Hall Effect sensor and braided main plug lead wires
- Our high quality switch with gold plated contacts and charge jack as shown in photo
The switch you receive with our system also comes with a built in charging jack and a small door to cover the charge jack when not in use. These switches typically sell for $13 - $17, have gold plated contacts and positive switching action for reliability and long life. This switch plugs directly into our ignition and the other end plugs into your battery giving you a no-hassle, clean and reliable install that allows charging of your battery without even removing your access panel!
Switch cutout is .600" (15.25mm) tall x 1.325 (33.6mm) wide. Hole spacing for screws is 1.535" (39mm) between centers. There is a nice rubber gasket that keeps everything tight and sealed against your fuselage.
